TomB_tx Posted November 2, 2012 Share #21 Β Posted November 2, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got my Summicron in 1969 - the "new" design at that time. I've used it since on M4, M6, and M9, and it has been my own reference standard of what I expect in a 50mm. I also have a 1962 rigid Summicron, Elmar 3.5 & 2.8, and a 1948 Summitar, and all give nice images. But I'm used to the 69 model, and to me it seems "right." However, I also got curious, and not having any Leica lenses made after the 1970s I ordered new current model Summicron. It will arrive today, and I'm anxious to try it. I don't expect dramatic differences. I almost got a new Summarit instead, but having worked at a Leica dealership in college - the Summicron was what the Leica rep. always recommended.
