Rolo Posted March 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here is the orig scan, levelled and framed, that was the basis for the image named Water Works: http://www.leica-camera-user.com/landscape-travel/18963-water-works.html Thought there might be some interest in this version as a debate for B&W versus colour in landscape photography. I like both and especially the colour of the chapel, but I went ahead with the B&W one, 'cos that's my 'thang'. Please note, this has not been processed, but recommend all you want. Thanks for looking. Rolo
Advertisement Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Hi Rolo, Take a look here Chapel Works (Colour version). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JE Posted March 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2007 The color is nice to compare to the B&W, but I prefer the latter. It has a richer look to it, more interesting to look at and much more atmosphere...it fits more with your "thang" than does this version.
Guest WPalank Posted March 17, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 17, 2007 Rolo, I'm usually more of a fan of your B&W work, but for some reason this grabs me. I would clone out that little buoy thing in the water and bring the white wisp of a cloud forward (maybe by burning?). I like the fact that it looks like a dolphin. w
beramos Posted March 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 17, 2007 Rolo, I like this simple but superb composition. The color is important here.
lambroving Posted March 18, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 18, 2007 Bingo! This works for me. I just don't get that great light in the B&W version. Very subtle. BTW, Ron and I were nearby late last July and the water was so low, I never took the camera out of the bag. It was blazing hot too! How would this shot look on a thick black frame? Rolo Posted March 19, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted March 19, 2007 Glad you like this version William. I personally prefer the B&W, but this version is also appealing to me. Rolo
zanydave Posted March 19, 2007 Share #7 Posted March 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great shot either way Rolo but I think the colour version wins on this occasion. Dave
darkness30 Posted March 19, 2007 Share #8 Posted March 19, 2007 Rolo, this is a superb image and it works in both formats for me. Thanks Mehmet
azzo Posted March 21, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 21, 2007 Rolo, You obviously had a good start with the colour image in hand beautifully captured. The way you treated the b&w is excellent as I had said. I can only imagine how your final processed colour version would look like. I bet that it will look just as good as your b&w. stuny Posted March 21, 2007 Share #10 Posted March 21, 2007 Rolo - Fabulous balance, colors and light. Truly in the spirit of your "famous" B&W landscape style.
