hankg Posted March 17, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I managed to get these files shot today. Not comprehensive color targets but the different lighting with the same subject is useful for testing targets. All the images shown here where done with M8 generic in C1 PRO as that's the baseline for C1 ICC profiles. One thing positive about the generic profile is it gave good results with all the files despite wildly different lighting. Â I shot 2 with 5200K light, one with soft, flat lighting the other with more contrasty lighting. The one shot at 3200K has the kind of extreme lighting you might find by candlelight, bars, and various dimly light available light venues. Â I'll get the DNG's on sendit over the weekend for anyone who wants to use them and post the address here.

Jamie Roberts Posted March 17, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 17, 2007 Hank--these are great--thanks (in advance) for posting them. Â I'm surprised how good the skin tones look here, actually. May I ask what you white balanced with in these exposures? Â Thanks! Â Jamie
scott kirkpatrick Posted March 17, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 17, 2007 The studio-sized WhiBal at the lower left would be my guess as a white balancing target. At least for the first one. In the other two, it falls out of the light on the main subject. Â scott
hankg Posted March 17, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted March 17, 2007 For white balance I entered 5200K in the M8 for the strobes. Broncolor strobes are balanced for 5300K but diffusers and light modifiers usually knock them down to 5100-5200K. The 3200K image was using just the modeling light from a fresnel spot with grid which is 3200K. Those settings got me within 100K of the actual (looking at the colorchecker and WhiBal for reference). To bad I sold my Broncolor FCM color meter on eBay. I could use it now.
hankg Posted March 17, 2007 Author Share #5 Â Posted March 17, 2007 Here's the link to the files. There are 2 versions of the soft/flat lighting and the high contrast lighting. The difference is about a 1/2 stop of exposure. The high contrast image is just about at the limit of the sensors range. 1/2 stop one way and it was clipping highlights 1/2 the other and the shadows were clipped.
