Hello,

I thought i would intro myself

I have been lurking around here for about a day or so ... and have really liked what i have seen

I have been a Leica admirer for a while but am by no means a skilled photographer by any stretch of the imagination although i enjoy the past time a lot ...

I have recently 'splashed-out' on a C-lux 1 ( i was orignally aiming for a FX-01 but i thought- screw it ... go for the Leica) it should be with me any day now ...

I have seen some of the results that this 'point and shoot' has been able to produce ... and to say the least i am very excited to start shooting with it .

I have thorougly used the search function here ... so i was wondering if anyone had any had anymore advice on using this bit of kit? Especially since i have been prodominantly viewfinder dependant with shooting b2 .

any feed back would be great !

Cheers,

Rob

Welcome to the forum Rob.

Enjoy using your little beast when it comes and upload some images over at the photo forum. Ask a heap of questions and more likely than not you will get considered responses that will lead you in the right direction.

There are a few of these little C fellows about, learn it, because there are some good images posted with the camera.

Good place to kick off, is shoot the same image in all the different program modes, even if they arent appliccable to the situation. You will quickly work out what the camera is trying to do, and why. Stands you in better stead when you decide to dial in the properties you want for each shot.

Anyway, welcome, have fun, post pics.

Regards

Hi Rob,

The C-Lux 1 is a great little carry all over camera. When I placed my order for an M8 at the beginning of January, Leica SA told me that these would not come in for a few months. So, in order to make my wait more pleasurable, they gave a great deal on a little C-Lux 1 that they had in stock. I must say here that the C1 is a wonderful little camera, and have had some great results from it. It you do a search on C-Lux here on the forum, you should find some of my posts.

While you may not have all the features that the D-Lux 3 offers, I especially miss the ability to save RAW and to shift the program exposure, you can certainly "fool" the camera by using scene modes for different things that they were intended to. For example, using one of the night scenes to force slow shutter speeds etc.

Best way to learn is to go out and shoot, plenty. Experiment and have fun. For a compact I was using a Canon Ixus 40 before. The C-Lux beats it hands down in every respect. Enjoy, and please post some of your shots.

Rob,

The C-Lux is indeed a great little camera and as others have said there is lots to play with. One thing I've picked up if it's of interest, the images generated always seem that much crisper with 100iso. Obvious one might say, but this camera can really produce in low light with 100iso and still render lots of detail. My camera is permanently set at 100 (unless I'm in dire need of changing). Let the stabilzer do the work. Also find that highlight details are kept true even in harsh lighting. Never quite get the same results with other ISO's (or cameras.)

All the best

Karlitos.

Hi all..thanks for the warm welcome. I recieved my Clux this Saturday so i had a full day of shooting and playing around with it ... one thing i have found is that it shoots incredibly hot with the flash on. It also locked on to burst ... and i couldn't get off it unless i turned it off and then on again... i have been shooting it on 80iso with an EV of between -1 1/3 - -1/3... the flash is pretty strong and really over exposes subjects ... so i have been trying to shoot with available light ... i experimented with the baby 1 and 2 setting to dim down the flash a bit and it did give me better results if i tuned down the EV . i am still mucking about with the AF functions ( the AF seems to have a mind of its own ... starting to wish i could focus manualy for some shots.. nevertheless i am having a ball shooting with it and learning how to get the most out of it it is great little camera . only wish you could save profile settings ...

will post up some photos of my day of random shooting .. soon .

Cheers Rob
