dkCambridgeshire Posted October 10, 2012 Share #1  Posted October 10, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today, the UK Leica Society organised a trip to Barnsdale Gardens, Exton near Rutland Water. I took my Leica X1 and a couple of ancient Leitz Elpro VIb supplementary close-up lenses which have been adapted via a step up ring to fit onto an aftermarket 49mm diameter filter holder. The X1 does not have a filter ring and its macro capability is quite poor - hence the need to use supplementary close-up lenses. The Elpro lenses are achromatic and enable the X1 to be used for good quality close-ups.  Fading flower heads are often overlooked as photo subject matter - but they can produce interesting images.  [ATTACH]340332[/ATTACH]   Leica X1, two Elpro VIb close-up lenses, 1/160sec. f5.6, ISO 400  Best wishes  dunk Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

The Elpro lenses can of course aslo be used on the X2 with similar/same aftermarket filter holder.  I think Leica missed a good marketing opportunity by not providing X1 and X2 users with a filter holder ... and also some decent achromatic close-up lenses  [ATTACH]340478[/ATTACH]  [ATTACH]340479[/ATTACH] Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
