Flower head

Today, the UK Leica Society organised a trip to Barnsdale Gardens, Exton near Rutland Water. I took my Leica X1 and a couple of ancient Leitz Elpro VIb supplementary close-up lenses which have been adapted via a step up ring to fit onto an aftermarket 49mm diameter filter holder. The X1 does not have a filter ring and its macro capability is quite poor - hence the need to use supplementary close-up lenses. The Elpro lenses are achromatic and enable the X1 to be used for good quality close-ups.

Fading flower heads are often overlooked as photo subject matter - but they can produce interesting images.

Three more flower heads all taken at Barnsdale yesterday using the Leica X1 ... with Leitz Elpro c/u lenses to enable macro focus. The Elpro lenses can of course aslo be used on the X2 with similar/same aftermarket filter holder.

I think Leica missed a good marketing opportunity by not providing X1 and X2 users with a filter holder ... and also some decent achromatic close-up lenses

Dunk,

this is a terrific shot and the whole series of an excellent quality with nice colours, precise focus and bokeh. Thanks for providing the most interesting information about the lenses. I will check for my own X1.

Thank you. Autofocus was used but in 'Spot Mode' and the AF-frame was thus moved onto the desired part of the subject.

Best wishes
