First hour with the Monochrome

I excitedly opened the box containing the Monochrome that was waiting for me to return from vacation and put on the strap and went out to shoot for about an hour in cold drizzly rain in NYC.

I'm out of practice as having sold my M9 3 months ago and only using an X2...but felt pretty comfortable after a few frames..I had a Summicron 35mm 1.4 as my only lense for the day..

Next outing will be with a 28 2.0 as I miss that range on the X2.

I took about 40 images and here's about 10..

It was pretty overcast and on the dark side and I generally kept it at around 1600 ISO but did vary it for some shots.

Glad it arrived before winter! :)

The boxing glove pictures were a display at Calmut camera's.. looked like a good place to test..;)

Nice for just general walking around shots. The quality is impressive. Would love to hear any post processing tips you already picked up/played with. I put an order in last week at my local dealer. Shooting Tri-X in the meantime for training. ;)

hard to tell quality from these low res images but I am impressed as expected with superiour ISO to the M9, images are rich and 'deep'.

I spent so little time shooting and processing that it's too soon (if ever) to suggest processing tips as I am not all that good at post production.

the images are overall fantastic out of the camera..simple adjustments and the images really can be spectacular. Comparing to any other camera is next to pointless as most cameras with enough tweaking of the image can and do look amazing..but the images the Monochrome produces seem very easy to work with to make them even better.

So did you use a 35/1.4 or 2.0 for these initial shots? Sorry but you said Summicron 1.4.

Had a 35 1.4 Summicron on the camera but most images were shot at F5.6 or F8..

Extremely promising first outing with the camera..it's as good as we would expect.

So looking forward to tomorrow...more coming!

Did you use a Summicron or Summilux??

It's a Summilux..today the 28mm 2.0 Summicron gets a turn.

To my knowledge Summicron is a 2.0 lens (wish I never sold mine..as I rarely shoot at 1.4) but I confuse the names all the time!
