My X100 had the sticky aperture blade issue, never got it fixed it was an off and on issue. Had to dig a little deeper in the pocket for the X2 and EVF but have already used it more than I did the Fuji X100, so that makes it worth wild upgrade. So I have tested the X100 and the X2 at my dealer, the first thing that I notice was the cheap look of the X100, it is quite heavy but the finish isn't that good as with the Leica. I got a headache when I look to the menu structure of the X100, and I hate that. I like a camera for his image quality and the manual settings, no filters, no movie etc. etc. , only a pure photo camera. The only thing was the price tag, but you get a version of Lightroom 4 with it. The image quality is very good, and the handling is fine because of the weight of the X2. The sharpness and colors are perfect, strait out of the camera when shooting in DNG(raw) files. The best thing you can do is go to a Leica dealer, take a sd-cart with you and test the X2. If you like simplicity choose the X2, do you like a camera with more gadgets and size/weight maybe the more expensive Xpro-1 is a option? Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Â I own this camera fr 6 weeks, I was taking photo's in the continuous mode, the camera starts to shake en it was dead. when I take the lens of I saw the shutter was broken, the shutter blades are crumbled in the camera. Olympus say that it was a impact damage, I now that I have do nothing wrong with it. Also the camera show absolute now sign of damage, there is no scratch to see. Because I now that for sure I don't trust this camera, and I didn't understand why Olympus is that obsinate. My local dealer was agree with me, so I trade the Oly in for the Leica. Â The X2 sorts out the major beefs I had with the X1 (dials that moved too easily, poor focussing speed). As a bonus they have made it feel more solid and covered it with better material. Â It's hard to choose between them in terms of image quality, and I think your decision will ultimately be based on other grounds. Plus I have this feeling that x100 may fail on me anytime, while the x2 looks like its built to last. Â Anyone has dng sample files of x2 to download. Ecaton Posted October 8, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted October 8, 2012 IQ is comparable. F2.0, brilliant OVF, wide angle converter and lens, ND filter, lcd screen resolution and certainly price are not. Even if a X100 failed on you out of warranty, buying a second body would still leave cash for a flight ticket as compared to a X2 with EVF. The X100 is as simply in use as a X1/2, if one wants. Both produce beautiful images although the X100 does Macro and that's important to me.( BTW no sticky apertures from serial22xx on ) At times the X1 seems sharper but once you use the X100 at f4 the difference is about colour and bokeh. The Leica is great at technical shots - landscapes , architecture etc and the Fuji for flesh shots and soft things like flowers. Â If I were to sell one - the Leica would be the first to go as the peeling skin and poppy-upy flash gets on my nerves. Ivan Muller Posted October 11, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted October 11, 2012 Salim, you know it takes a long time to come to grips with these x's(1, 2 and 100) they are all great cameras and all give good image quality...a new camera will not improve your vision. Pixel peeping and agonizing over small little differences seen only at 100% makes no sense. The X1 took me a long long time to learn and work out ways to overcome the drawbacks..all the little micro focus cameras are at the beginning of the developmental curve. IMO the X2 is an improvement but essentially the same camera...Looking at all the cameras on offer now focus speed and handling are all problematical...2/3rds were the same in the beginning. My personal take is that you wont see a fundamental difference or vast improvement in the handling to rival the OMD for the next 2 or 3 generations. By all reports even the mighty Canon cant get their eos M to focus quickly...it takes time to develop these new technologies . Stepping up to the X2 will just be a small incremental improvement...rather spend the money on photographic trips and really learn how to use the camera...all of them are flawed at the moment...so why bother. One has to decide where you want to spend your energies, learning new equipment or learning to see and improve your craft.....If photography is (like it seems to be for a lot of owners here) an exercise in acquiring tools and 'playing' and 'comparing' these tools...no problem nothing wrong with that...but if its a tool that is a means to an end, photography, stop worrying about it and start photographing... Also as David said, your dealer needs to sort this out - you should return the camera and demand a repair or replacement. You have your consumer rights don't forget (check your 'local' laws). And because of that I don't wont this crappy thing back. So my dealer trade the repaired one, plus some money from me to a Leica X2. My dealer have sorted this thing very good out in my opinion. And because you read a lot of damages, failures and bodyparts that come of on the Internet, is because the om-d is selling really good and allot of people have this camera. It's just a experience with a brand, it's something personal, I have some health problems, so the last thing is having worries about a camera.
