mgreernz Posted October 24, 2012 Share #42 Â Posted October 24, 2012 I've just sold my excellent Gitzo monopod - I simply hadn't had any use from it since letting the last of my DSLR kit go 3 years ago. The lightweight carbon fibre/alloy tripod that I now use with the Leica kit does everything I need - and very adequately performs as a monopod when the legs are left vertical. My travel tripod has a center column but I bought the short optional column for it and use that. Unfortunately it's a compromise you have to make for a traveler. My regular tripod is a Gitzo 3541LS systematic (no center column) and total overkill for my current equipment. That's what I like for support; total overkill.
