Mr_Jones Posted September 25, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The X1 is selling for bargain basement prices right now. The results from this camera along with the tiny size, low light ability & macro focus are a great reason to have one even as a sidearm to an M. As a travel camera I've gone round the world with the X1 and captured some beautiful pictures which justified the original cost. I don't need 2 but some of the outfits people are selling with viewfinders and cases are a steal. Will there come a day when people value this camera or has the world gone mad for the X2? Advertisement Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Hi Mr_Jones, Take a look here X1 Used Prices. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
elgenper Posted September 25, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2012 Noticed the same thing here in Sweden. As for myself, I don´t really feel I need everything the X2 gives, not at the price asked (for me, it would just be a complement to my M9 gear). But at these prices, a lightly used X1 is far more realistic. In fact, I´ve just won an auction for one at Tradera (the Swedish branch of EB*y). I paid just under USD 800 for it, and right now I´m eagerly awaiting its delivery...
iedei Posted September 26, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2012 I really like the X1 and am also thinking of replacing my beloved D-Lux 3 with one as my pocket point and shoot....that being said, I think the prices of the X1 are suffering mainly because there is a misconception about what these cameras are as well as poor sales of the X2 (or so I was told by a salesman at Adorama). the X1 can very easily be found for under $1k....and basically my choices are: D-Lux 6, GXR, or X1......or I could keep the D-Lux 3 ad buy a new lens for the M8. decisions, decisions.... gnuyork Posted October 4, 2012 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2012 A few months ago I bought a (two week) used X1 with finder, both cases, and an extra battery, and empty warranty card (un registered, so I got LightRoom 4 for free as well) for $640. This was from a co-worker who used it for two weeks and then put it in a box for a year or so. He didn't like the slow focus. Not fast enough to capture his kids. When I announced to him the X2 is out with faster focus he immediately asked if I wanted to buy it. I sure did! What a lucky deal. I haven't been shooting much with it lately, I have been mostly working on scanning slides and post processing for another project, but it has quickly become one of my favorite cameras. I'm quite impressed with the IQ of this digital cam.
arcangel6 Posted October 5, 2012 Share #5 Posted October 5, 2012 Hi, I purchased a used X1 in near mint condition about for $775 USD two weeks ago and love it. I purchased the X1 with my eyes wide open, meaning that I read all about the good and not so good points about the camera. Regards, Joe
Mr_Jones Posted October 12, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted October 12, 2012 There are limitations to it's greatness but the IQ is on a par with the M8 at least in my experience and low light performance is a bit better. There were a lot of improvements made in the 2.0 firmware but the damage had been done by then.
