Thoughts ?

 

I will buy it, but not until I know the price in Australia, and when I have enough money to do so with impunity. At least a year from now looks good.

 

I love all the new functions. Video means I can take video without having to put down the M. Live View and focus peaking mean I can shoot from the chest, focus without bringing the camera to my face, and use lenses notorious for focus shift with impunity. GPS means no more wondering where the heck I took the photo of yet another Japanese temple. The grip is much better designed than that awful looking cylinder. Weather sealing means ... I could go on and on.

 

Am I pleased with the announcement? You bet! Bring it on!

I am very happy with my M9P, I don't need Liveview, EVF or video. I was able to play with the M a little bit at Photokina yesterday, it just didn't appeal to me (heavier, more bulky, extreme shutter delay in liveview, shutter sound, the more electronic impression and feeling, etc).

 

I had waited till Photokina with the decision, now I will go ahead and get another M9 as a second body.
