DNG Previews gone - Apple v. Adobe is getting tiresome

A warning to Mac users who haven't yet updated to 10.4.9, your .dng files will no longer have a preview created in OS X when you update. All you get now is a generic icon with "DNG" at the top. At least for me it doesn't have an effect on my workflow, but it is pain nonetheless to not be able to open a folder full of Raw files and simply look for the file you need.

Okay now i am mad. This is nuts. I should have backed the system up.

This war between APPLE and ADOBE has to end

The war won't end. The sad fact is that Apple is more hostile to third-party software providers than Microsoft has ever dreamed of being. If Apple had a fraction of the market share Microsoft has, the Justice Department could have brought three times the antitrust suit against apple it brought against Microsoft.

I bought my Apple to run photoshop faster. But Apple seems to be trying to work towards competing against Adobe rather than supporting it.

True, perhaps this isn't Apple v. Adobe, but the fact remains that I used to have preview icons for my M8 files and now I don't. Since the only change to my OS in the past 24 hours was that I updated to 10.4.9 (with it's claimed expanded support for RAW) the onus remains on Apple, not Leica. The fact remains that, at least in this one area, functionality of the Mac OS has actually been reduced by this upgrade not increased. (Which takes this post beyond it's Leica applicability...)

Hmm...I've never seen a DNG preview from my M8 files, but I wasn't exactly looking either. What bugs me is that if I import from my card reader directly into Lightroom, there are no previews in the import panel. But if I import the same stuff from my hard drive, the previews are there. Maybe it's an Adobe vs. Sandisk conspiracy?

I had DNG previews before this new update but they are clearly gone now from the same file folder, even off my externals there not there

Yeah, I downloaded the update and was perplexed when I couldn't view any of my DNGs.

Then I realized that I had to install Eion's hack all over again!!

What a pain.

This needs to be fixed, I'm tired of saving two versions of each file and backing it all up to two different backup drives.
