Artichoke Posted September 16, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted September 16, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) after my first summer with the Leica 1.4 viewfinder magnifier, the small black bumper lost its mooring and was lost as I wear prescription eyeglasses, I don't like having them scratched by the bare metal of the viewfinder I tried many solutions (short of sending the viewfinder back to Leica) including slicing elastic tubing to substitute, but such were less than satisfactory quite by chance I discovered that Phillips Sonicare electric toothbrush replacement heads ship with three colored bands (to allow for different users to not use another's brush) which perfectly fit the viewfinder magnifier this has stayed on for > 6 months now I should have dusted off my M9 before taking this photograph
DES Posted September 16, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted September 16, 2012 Very inventive! Funny enough I am looking into obtaining a viewfinder magnifier, and I use the sonicare.
FTI Posted September 16, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted September 16, 2012 I love these every day solutions. For all other things I can't find replacements in around the home I usually have a stock pile of ductape, wd40, and a whoooooole bunch of velcro. masjah Posted September 16, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted September 16, 2012 Brilliant! Reminiscent of the beer-can ring-pull shim in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
250swb Posted September 16, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted September 16, 2012 If you ask Leica they will probably send you a new one free (I lost mine), but I like your inventiveness, especially as I have one of those brushes! Nice work. Â Steve
