luigi bertolotti Posted September 13, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2012 SCANDAL !! H.M. The Queen does SELL her M6 ???? I can't believe... and without declaring that the proceeds goes to some charity ? There's something strange on this item.... (I entered just now the list... and I suppose I could grow my 200K€ speculation for the 700.001... too next to Auctioneers' estimate...)
pop Posted September 13, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 13, 2012 It's not her camera. It's the sample (mockup?) which they sent her before making her real camera. It has no serial number. The lens is a dummy. That's what the text in the above link says, anyway.

duckrider Posted September 22, 2012 Share #9 Posted September 22, 2012 Oh to have money!! You are kinnin'! It's soooo much fun to study these interesting highly priced gems. I'm copying pics of these and collecting them in a self made book. But beeing able to afford them? NO! What will the buyer do with a M3 700001? With a Leica I Mod. A Anastigmat No. 195, a Leica I Mod. A Luxus, a golden M3? All these photografic equipment, build to take pictures, will vanish in strong rooms, not to be used ever more. No, I don't want to have the millions to afford these ultra high priced uniques. Saving money for a M4-2 at the moment, thrill of anticipation is the same, as the buyer of a LuxusLeica might have. I'm in love with Leica classics, owning IIIC,IIIF,M3,M4,M6ttl and of course M9 in dayly use. I benefit from classic Leica literature, enjoying each little accessory item I can afford. And there are soooo many! Would fun be greater buying a 700001 and closing it away? Not for me! have fun Thomas

iphoenix Posted September 24, 2012 Share #11 Posted September 24, 2012 Would fun be greater buying a 700001 and closing it away? Not for me! have fun Thomas I'm becoming more and more inclined to agree with you Thomas. Whilst not in the same league, I'm selling (through my collectors club auction) a 4 digit 1(A) converted to II; a very nice M1; and a very early Nikon F because I cannot justify the risk to value of using them as they were designed to be used. The joy I experienced when I bought them has vanished as a result. I have now decided to enjoy a "ratty" but soon to be serviced M2, plus used but well working M3, M4P and M6's. I believe that any Leica is collectable, but for me; most of the enjoyment is in using it.
