Summicron 35 asph Streulicht

I hope you will accept an answer in English – my school German is a bit rusty and fit only to be used on waiters.

To judge from the highlights of the picture, the answer must surely be the sun. It is out of the picture, but as you know, the rectangular picture is cropped out of a larger circle – the lense's coverage, which has to be at least the diagonal of the picture format (42.3mm) but is normally quite bit larger. At its outer limit, it is also quite soft in its drawing, which may make things worse in this case.

So the sun is outside the picture, but inside the lens coverage, so the lens 'sees' it. It sends some of its stray light into the 24x36mm cropped area.

As you know, even the current v.2 35mm Summilux ASPH is not immune to stray light. But normally, it is very well controlled. I do even find the slight amount of it quite pleasant. But this is an exceptional case. This has not happened to me, ever, and as you say, it has not happened to you before. If you take care to keep the sun outside the lens coverage circle, it won't happen again.

Regards from the old man from the Age B.C. (Before Coating)

Thanks for your answer. I was a little curious because of the appearance, the straight form

of the suns haze. I ve seen sometimes rounded hazes, not like here..

And all instead of using a sunshade. But OK, I ll be prepared for the next time.
