lm_user Posted September 7, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been using MPix and E-Surface paper for digital color printing and have been happy with their quality and delivery. I have not tried printing digital B+W, but have a collection of photos I would like to print. MPix offers "True B&W Paper (Matte Finish)" Any experience with this service - or do you have a favoratie alternative I should consider? It is easy enough to order a few prints and experiment. I would like to order the same print from a few sources / papers etc and see which I like best. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

sanyasi Posted September 8, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2012 Being in Chicago, I have given some thought to using this place to reproduce prints that are larger than my printer's 17 by 22 inch capacity. Fine Art Digital Printmaking - Printmakers Chicago | Printmakers Chicago I haven't done this yet because I just don't seem to get around to it, but you might give them a call. When I have researched the matter, I've seen that they are highly regarded. There is Phoenix Imaging, which somebody at Calumet recommended to me for black and white processing. Phoenix Imaging. I have no personal experience with them. Good luck and if you have success, report back.

Based on my sample size of 1 It's a decent print, though a little more contrasty than I expected. The same file printed by a lab that sadly is no longer in business using an LCD enlarger is a little better IMHO, with better tonal gradation. I'd also try Digital Silver Imaging - Museum-quality black and white prints made from your digital files
