jffielde Posted September 4, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted September 4, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking at a 2-year old Leica 50mm f/1.4, and there's grease visible in the ring between the rear element and lens housing. I can stick a q-tip or corner of a napkin in the crack and wipe it out. Â Does this exposed grease mean I should pass on this otherwise excellent lens? Erik Gunst Lund Posted September 4, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted September 4, 2012 It's grease working it's way out of the focusing helicoil, this is visible on many Leica M and LTM mount lenses, just whipe it off, with a lint free cloeth on a Q-tip but don't get 'anything' into the threads, the tolerances are tight, and a hair or dirt makes problem...
