gyoung Posted September 4, 2012 Share #61 Posted September 4, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Right, filled up the bathroom basin, left for a couple of minutes to settle down, pulled plug. Water just dissapeared down the plughole! No discernable rotation I could see except for a small piece of debris on the surface which seemed to go clockwise if anything, and only at the last minute. More experiments later as opportunity arises, bathnight tomorrow (whether I need it or not ) Gerry

erl Posted September 4, 2012 Share #62 Posted September 4, 2012 Just a thought. The diameter of your plug hole may be an issue, relative to the depth or volume of water you are experimenting with. I suggest that the greater the diameter, the greater the volume of water may be needed to finely balance the result.
Peter H Posted September 4, 2012 Share #63 Posted September 4, 2012 Erl is probably correct. I suggest you install a series of basins with different sized plug-holes and start taking this experiment seriously for goodness' sake.
