Hi all,

After 5 long months of wait I finaly got my Thumbs-up! today.

No, not the suppliers fault, the SA Postal Services fault, - Idiots!

I just cut my Luigi half case so that the Thumbs-Up can fit, - did a good job if I can say so myself.

Can any one suggest what to smear on the cut-out part's rim so it would look the same as the rest of the case?

Just ignore me if it is a stupid question:)

I had to remodel my Luigi case because the fit of the cut-out for the LCD was lousy & kept pressing the top button on my M8. Paste shoe polish I thought might rub off on clothing, so I used liquid. I applied it with a cotton pledget (Q-tip would work). Then to seal and glaze it I applied a couple coats of thin cyanoacrylate (super glue) with a flat toothpick, letting it soak in. I imagine there's instructions and a product for this somewhere to be found on the internet, but I didn't want to spend any more money on it so I just improvised with what I had in the house.

Raw leather edges are usually just moistened, soaped and burnished by rubbing briskly with canvas/denim etc or a wooden/bone burnisher. A bit of saddle soap/glycerin soap or similar helps. You need to have enough friction to work up a bit of heat and compress the leather fibres but still have enough lubrication to stop things getting raggedy. You can add a bit of beeswax to finish if you like. I'd avoid boot polish etc as you might just make a mess....

If you have not done this before get an old bit of leather and have a practice (an old belt is ideal) ... if done right it is very quick. You should not need to use polish or varnish to get a hard shiny edge.

When I did this to mine, I superglued the inside lining to the outside leather, since it had slightly separated and then used "edge dressing" the stuff that you use to retouch up the black around the soles of shoes.

I used black paint and it soaked into the leather and perfectly matched what Luigi had on the rest of the edges of the case. It also seals the layers together. Black shoe polish won't match what he has done to the rest of the case or seal the edge. .
