BOOWU-M & M6TTL

I have just tried out a BOOWU-M (16 526 H) with my M6TTL. I found getting two out of the three rings worryingly stiff (the third I could not even get on without forcing, so immediately stopped), then I noticed on closer inspection the frame selector lever was getting in the way, less than a millimetre too close to the BOOWU ring, and actually touching it as I locked the ring in place. Checking the lever I notice tell-tale rub marks on the mount side. I am therefore of the impression that this small detail renders the BOOWU-M incompatible with the M6TTL. No problems with my M9, which is the camera I'll mostly be using it with.

Not the first time the M6TLL appears incompatible with one of the traditional close-up attachments. I wonder if others have had the same experience.

Not with the copying device (right?) you are mentioning, but I had the known problem with the DR Summicron goggles' plastic limiter hitting the edge of the top plate. This was the only time I was happy that the glass of these specific goggles has separation, so I cut the limiter without regret. I also sold the TTL since then and am on the look-out for new goggles (becaus of the separation, not the limiter ;-)...

Thanks, Michael. The most practical solution for me is not to use BOOWU on an M6TTL. I guess I posted mostly because I wanted to circulate a "heads up" in case anyone else is intending this particular combo. As I said, not problems on my M9, which is my first choice for repro work anyway. The goggles of the DR 50 Summicron are the other accessory I was referring to - a well-known incompatibility. Thanks for the confirmation.

Best wishes,

Al

I am sure that the Boowu-M (1625H) can be modified so that it is compatible with the M6.

In fact I have seen one for sale in a dealer which stated it was indeed modified for the M6.

The modification I think is simple and can be done by yourself, let me try and locate where I read this and get back to you............. A little research on my part.

From memory I think the cast housing is rotated 180 degrees so that the cut out on the casting that was intended to allow clearance for the self timer lever in the older M series cameras would then clear the preview lever on the M6...........let me try and confirm this.

Regards

Alan

Ah, I had seen this about a month or so ago and wondered what the "modification" was. But no worries, it's definitely a simple DIY job to loosen the screws and rotate the housing, as you say. I won't bother, though, because it works fine on the M9 as is. Thanks again.
