Going from big shutter dial to small

I have an M6TTL and like the big shutter dial because it is easy to adjust since it is close to the camera body edge. I find it ergonomic because my index finger simply falls into the right place and I can adjust the dial without having to bend my finger, which I have to do on the M3s and M4s I have used.

The one thing I don't like about the dial is that it feels less "distinct" than the dials on the M3 and M4. What I don't like about the smaller dials, however, is that they're (to my fingers) not as easy to adjust.

Is this just how the bigger dial is or can someone (must it be Solms?) adjust the click stops so that it feels more like the dial on the M3/M4?

The big dial on my M6TTL was more distinctly clicking than the smaller one on my M6 (had them both at the same time). The latter one was diagnosed and repaired as worn out (some spring?) when I sold it in a shop. It did not go to Solms for this. The metal dials of my current Ms seem still a little more firm, I think, but perhaps that's the smaller grip due to the diameter.

Yes, the fiddly smaller dial is the main reason I got rid of my MP. Can't say I noticed a difference in the firmness of the detents though.

Now I have the M5 which has the best shutter speed dial of all!
