All along the High Line Park (and all along the riverfront from TRIBECA south) there are beautiful, wild-seeming plantings. I'm sure John Meade will be able to identify this daisy-like flower with the thistle-like center.

May I jump in? It's Echinacea, the raw ingredient in the herbal medicines for fending off colds... Jim

 

Ditto..but which one?

 

There is Augustafolia and Purpurea?

Excellent..... folks remember there is also a beautiful "Maxima " peach toned variety as well..worth the pain to grow from seed, in fact you can still do it now, get seedlings for the fall and next summer you will have a beautiful crop.
