pico Posted July 24, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2012 Well, in Germany there wasn't really summer during the last 2 weeks, hope you've had more luck in your countries. It has been dreadfully hot here in SE Minnesota for two months (and my air conditioning broke down for days), and we had a serious drought. All our grass is brown, the trees are doing poorly, gardens parched. Yesterday the heat must have reached a critical depth because the street drains (sewers) stunk, out-gassing. Sickening. Our Winter was the warmest on record, not that we minded that so much. This morning is beautifully cool, dark and raining. Older neighbors are out walking in the rain about the low lake across the street, face to the breeze, smiling in joy like children. Now I recall from a desert of childhood how a welcome rain can bring some folks to thankful prayer. I am leaving shortly to join them and I will bring a rangefinder with me. That sounds really frightened. Well, weather.....that seems to be exactly the opposite of my hometown Berlin, beside any catastrophes of course. We have a lot of rain and thunder storms nearly every day, so the lawns and trees are strong and green. Since a few days the summer with bright weather and warm temperatures are back in Germany this gives our childrens their smiling back.
