Advertisement Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hi andybarton, Take a look here RIP Velvia. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Joop van Heijgen Posted July 25, 2012 Share #22 Posted July 25, 2012 Are you sure it's not just sold by them? Yes that could be....the text is stated on the box but also: "Agfa Photo is used under license of Agfa-Gevaert NV & Co KG....." Not very clear at all. But the film CT 100 precisa comes from Fuji and is made in Japan:D It is a very nice slide film and cheap to be had in the Netherlands and Germany: €5.
joeswe Posted July 25, 2012 Share #23 Posted July 25, 2012 Actually it's even cheaper in Germany, more in the 3 Euro range (you can buy two-packs for 6 Euro something in one of the nationwide drugstore chains). I am using it and it looks like Provia 100F to me. Others have tested it more systematically and came to similar conclusions. It's obviously not Velvia and as there are no other Made in Japan ISO 100 slide films apart from the Velvias and Provia now, it must be Provia. Some say it might be part of production that does not meet the Fuji quality criteria 100% for one reason or the other, but that is speculation. I have not found any problems with the film so far. Scarlet Posted July 26, 2012 Share #24 Posted July 26, 2012 Are there any economical mail-in services in continental Europe for developing slide films?
xalo Posted July 26, 2012 Share #25 Posted July 26, 2012 There is still a large Fuji lab service in Germany with mail-in bags available, but it does not work outside the country (I called them about this once). Besides this, "economical" is very debatable: labs in Paris (Negatifplus.com, dupifphoto.fr, dupon.com, Central Color | Actualité) all do mail order, an unframed roll is about 12 EUR for the latter three, plus postage ; Negatifplus offers development and hi-res archive scans (not always top notch...) for about 15 EUR. No complaints about development quality. Alexander
hamey Posted July 26, 2012 Share #26 Posted July 26, 2012 Three weeks ago I was in Paris and got one roll of Provia 100F done for 9.50 Euros. If you drop your film before 1300 you can pick it up at 1800 hrs. The Address is NEGATIF-PLUS-- ARGENTIQUE 106, RUE LAFAYETTE 75010- PARIS FRANCE TEL 01 45 23 41 60 Laboratoire photo numérique, argentique - Laboratoire photographie Négatif Plus. It'a about a few minutes walk from Gare de Nord Railway Station. Ken.
Joop van Heijgen Posted July 26, 2012 Share #27 Posted July 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I mailed with the Fuji importer in the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg) and they say that the Velvia films are still be delivered and in the near future.... At the Photokina in Koln there will be more information about all the Fuji films. For the long run they cannot give any guarantee . The sales for slide films is still decreasing. Fuji will do the utmost to save their slide films...
xalo Posted July 26, 2012 Share #28 Posted July 26, 2012 Without archive scan, N+ is cheaper indeed, but turnaround lately was rather next evening for me (I live close by, so no problem). They are now doing maintenance on their E6 developing unit, hopefully ready again by 31 July. They ship with fast services, but I guess you need to dig on the site to find the prices, which might vary with the amount shipped. Alexander
