I'm looking for that because I can't afford a new one, certainly not an X2. I just returned from a local store that had two X1's for sale. Both of them suffered from a cover that was becoming unglued from the body. Both in exactly the same spot: the side door covering the usb port. My question now is a double one: 1. Is this is known problem with the X1? I find it strange that this problem was on both cameras 2. Is it a deal breaker? Let me rephrase: the asking price is 950 Euros, is it still a good price and if I buy the camera , can I send it to Solms for (free) repair? I should think that Leica would be embarassed to sell such expensive p&s cameras with such low build quality! Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Anouk Posted July 18, 2012 Author Share #3 Â Posted July 18, 2012 Point well taken, but not entirely OK with it, though. I still think it is unheard of for Leica to have such low standards. But in the meantime, I have devoted many hours in searching this forum and found out it is a common problem for the so called Vulcanite cover of the silver X1. And both models I saw yesterday were indeed silver ones. Apparently I'm the last member on this forum to be aware of this. I chose not to be without the camera for some weeks while it went back to Leica so I carefully re-glued the tips into place. Two years later it is still perfect.
