Going to the Philippines in Sept

Hank,

Since you are going to be on Cebu, please get in touch when you are here, I am in Balamban, across the island from Cebu City. One other tip with cameras, if you can, don't leave the M9 or lenses in air-conditioning, or if you have no choice, zipper the bag and let them warm up slowly. If you don't, as soon as you leave hotel etc air-conditioning, and re-enter the humidity, they fill with condensation, and this is a place where electronics go to die!

If available use a hair dryer to warm them up. Just enough to equalize the temp. Not too hot of course. :)

If you take the 50 then take the 135. If you don't take the 50 then you can take the 90.

I've found when I want reach I want the longer focal length I can get. Also 50 and 90 are too close together.

I would opt for the 25mm, the 50mm and the 90mm. The 25 would be great for the

expansive landscapes - rice paddies, beach sunsets, etc.; the 50 perfect for "people"

candids and low light or night time (great neon signs); and the 90 for those "hard to

reach" places where the 50 is just too short. I'd take a handful of 4 meg sd cards, some

small waterproof case for them and a couple of extra batteries.

The folks in the Phillipines are great, and you should get pictures of some of the best

smiles and natural people you're likely to see. Have a great time!
