designdog Posted March 9, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Actually, in my case it's a Digilux 2 and a Panasonic L1. Â Any thoughts on an external flash that would work with both? I am also upgrading my Canon rig to the new Speedlite 580 EX II. Maybe it will work? (Wouldn't want to zap my cameras!!!) Â Thanks, Â -ddog

Riley Posted March 9, 2007 Share #2  Posted March 9, 2007 they are different hot shoe patterns the D2 follows the Leica pattern L1 follows the Olympus pattern  you could use a Metz with 2 different adapter modules SCA 3202 for Olympus /L1 SCA 3502 for Leica /D2
dugby Posted March 10, 2007 Share #3  Posted March 10, 2007 David, I have the same issue.  I bought a Metz 40MZ3i with the SCA3502M4 for my D2..... and this low profile Metz works superbly on the D2......all the functions work....and NO red-eye.  When I got my L1, I bought the SCA3202M5 adaptor and only found recently determined from the metz.de website that the 40MZ3i will only work as a basic flash with limited auto capability.  More investigation reveals that the only Metz flash that works superbly on both D2 and D3 with their appropriate adaptors, is the Metz 54MZ4i  This is a little disappointing as the tall cobra head of the 54 is ergonomically unattractive on a D2, whereas the low profile 40....was ideal.  These two Metz flashes are ideal as they both have twin reflectors, and good Primary Reflector strength for bounce (GN44)
