I want to point out in this thread the quality of the Customer Service in Solms.

My S2 works OK, but the leatherette on card door and the handle below the shutter button got loose after a trip in Northern Greece last April. The weather was only moderately warm though.

So I sent a mail to the Customer Service in Solms, and got contact with Mrs Gabriele ARNOLD, a charming lady who speaks and write French perfectly. She immediately sent me UPS who came to gather the camera at the door of my house on the following day. The camera spent one week in Solms, and I got it back today in perfect condition. They had to change the flash socket that was misaligned, and they cleaned the sensor and the focusing screen. I paid 100 € for the whole work, and nothing for the leatherette and nothing for the trip.

I think this is a good job and a very good customer care.

Cheers

Gérard

I had my S2 serviced and a complete go over.

Noting the camera had to travel from New Zealand the service was very very prompt.

A small card gave a Leica confirmation of completed service which gives a potential purchaser a sense of confidence that some 'care" is being applied during the cameras life.

Frankly the camera felt better than new.

Highly recommended

Well, if you want to talk about absolutely terrible customer service, Fotodiox is one of them.

I bought an adapter from their site on the 15th. I bought it with my visa card. Once I proceeded past the checkout, it said I would receive a confirmation e-mail and some sort of date of shipping and tracking number. I have also written twice and phoned (and left a message asking to be called back) twice. I have not received a response to any of my contacts... and today is the 28th.

I know that I can't treat *MY* customers that way.

I had to send my S2P in twice to Solms over the course of this past year. Once when I was on location in Amsterdam and another time at home through their headquarters in NJ. Both times the service was impeccable and the people I dealt with at Leica were friendly and caring. The problems with the camera were of my own doing, not a lemon....things get rough sometimes out there on a shoot. So from my experience, I can say that Leica is a company that takes a lot of pride servicing their products.
