Flamez Posted June 19, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Following on from another thread i purchased a new CV 15mm f4.5 super wide heliar. After using it over the weekend i was disappointed with the results, none of the images was sharp.. This afternoon i tried some very basic tests in the rear garden. I mounted the lens and my M8.2 on a tripod and took a number of shots across the f range. I utilised the rangefinder as the lens is rangefinder coupled. Only shots at f8 and f11 are anywhere near sharp. My 35 summarit hand held blew them all away. Do you think i have a duff copy as all the forums report this lens very sharp. I have contacted the shop for advice on how to progress
Advertisement Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Hi Flamez, Take a look here CV 15mm focusing issues. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted June 19, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 19, 2012 It is virtually impossible to misfocus this lens. If your images are really unsharp take it back.
Wolfgang Esslinger Posted June 19, 2012 Share #3 Posted June 19, 2012 Have you checked with another lens if the M8.2 is ok? Nevertheless it sounds like something is wrong with the 15mm. With its depth of field almost everything should be sharp.

LeicaMSeattle Posted June 20, 2012 Share #5 Posted June 20, 2012 I got one that had a loose set of rear elements where once turned tight worked fine. The dealer here just sells the lenses but doesn't really offer much in terms of warranty repair or replacements.
Flamez Posted June 21, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted June 21, 2012 Phew, the dealer confirmed i had a faulty lens and a replacement is on order. A big thumbs up for Robert White Photography
mbray Posted June 21, 2012 Share #7 Posted June 21, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought mine from Robert White - an efficient dealer - no problems with the lens with focusing so once you have a good one it will be fine.
