Thoughts on lens kit shuffle

I seem to be spending endless hours thinking about this, so I thought I'd toss it out here.

I like to do documentary style work (including work with small theater groups), along with some general travel photography.

Primarily, I've been using a 28 ultron and a 35 summilux asph and a 50 nokton.

Now, with the 30 percent offer, I want to get either the 50 summilux asph or the 28 summicron. But that gets me thinking about restructuring the kit.

Instead of: 28 ultron, 35 lux asph, 50 nokton

I could go with: 28 summicron, 40 nokton, 50 lux asph

I'd love to have all three of those wonderful Leica lenses, but I really can only justify two right now. So in my mind, it comes down to this:

If I could chose only one of the three leica lenses, I'd pick the 35. But having the option of choosing two, I'm leaning toward the 28 and 50.

Does this sound crazy? Rational? Anyone else gone through a similar thought pattern?

Tim, I've just bought a 24mm, so I expect my most used lenses are going to be 24mm with my existing 35mm Summicron - with a 50mm in the bag too.

Maybe next year add a 75mm Summicron and use that in place of the 50mm.

I'm re-shuffling my bag at the moment too, and am close to the perfect setup (for me)

My best (in fact the best I have ever owned or used) is the 50 Lux. I cover the long end with a 90mm macro, small and light and great for travel. The short end is taken by a CV15 which I love dearly but which might have to go since I can't code it so unless firmware 1.1 allows menu lens selection, it's going, to get replaced by a WATE.

That leaves is with the 35mm. My trials here have been widely documented in other threads so I won't bang on but if I could get a good 35mm lens that was coded or codable and didn't suffer from backfocus, it would be my most frequently used lens by far. 15/35/50/90 is the perfect range and spacing for what I do. I also have a 24mm 2.8 which is ok, and will probably stay so I can do low light wide-ish, but it won't get used too often!

Best

Tim
