alexjp Posted June 13, 2012 Share #3 Posted June 13, 2012 just rented a x1 the last weekend to try. my x2 just came in today. first impressions: - screen is infinitely more responsive, you feel this immediately. it does not have the awkward laggy feel of the x1. almost like the difference between 60fps and 15fps. colors on the screen during preview are more vivid and correct as well I put the cameras next to each other and the image on the screens do not look alike at all. resolution is similar but image looks a world of difference for some reason. - focusing is about 3-5x faster. Motor is a very quiet whirring noise now instead of that the clanky awkward sound of the x1. - no more having to switch to macro mode. x2 does this automatically. this pleases me to no end. - dials are stiff and don't turn annoyingly - IQ is similar to x1 > Definite buy. i was torn between the x100 and x1 because i loved the x1 IQ but I honestly didnt really like using the camera. It felt lo-tech and laggy and my friends couldnt believe it when I said it was worth >1k. Whereas I absolutely love using the x2. It looks fantastic in silver too. Glad I bought it, will be returning my x100. Cons: None. The higher price. I suppose you can get x1s for $1k-$1.2k now.

Cherylmeek Posted June 13, 2012 Share #5 Posted June 13, 2012 What matter most is that you are happy with your X2. I agree with the comments above, the X2 is a load better than the X1

starshipstu Posted June 13, 2012 Share #7 Posted June 13, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just packed up and said goodbye to my Black X1 (which has been an awesome camera). The Black X2 arrived today. Its finish is nicer. It feels like a "premium" product, much closer to an M9. The screen is very responsive and a huge improvement. And the autofocus is fast enough to not get in the way. Overall, the X2 camera feels like a more substantial, significantly faster to operate X1. Since it has a better sensor also, that is a bonus. The IQ I have seen so far from the X2 does not look like a reason to upgrade for X1 owners, unfortunately. There is lots of great work to be seen on the web from X1 shooters and nothing which comes even close from the X2 yet. I would upgrade if there was any convincing evidence of improved IQ. ECliffordSmith Posted June 14, 2012 Share #11 Posted June 14, 2012 Hi All, I am glad the X2 owners are happy with their new cameras and appreciate you sharing your feelings/impressions of the camera. As an X1 owner I too am interested in seeing what the image quality difference is. To date there is not enough out there in terms of decent RAW files from the X2 for me to play around with and decide whether I will upgrade. The other features are nice to have for me. kalokeri Posted June 14, 2012 Share #12 Posted June 14, 2012 ... There is lots of great work to be seen on the web from X1 shooters and nothing which comes even close from the X2 yet. ... Maybe new owners just want to share the happiness. Great work can be done later.

wda Posted June 20, 2012 Share #19 Posted June 20, 2012 I have learned to live with the auto-focus and prefer an OVF. I can understand first-time buyers getting excited by the 'improved' X2, but after trade-in loss, the price differential cannot easily be justified for highly satisfied users like me. prk60091 Posted June 21, 2012 Author Share #20 Posted June 21, 2012 faster auto focus and evf In 2 years I can truly count on the fingers of one hand the number of images I missed because of the "slow" AF and I never liked the EVF on my D2 (digilux2)
