luigi bertolotti Posted June 9, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M8 from 2007, from some time has (often - not always) an erratic behavior of the back wheel that manages the enlarging of the LCD view... you rotate it, with the usual "clickings", and nothing happens... or, after some rounds, it quickly shows the 9-thumbnails set... or the top enlargement... it looks like the contacts that set the normal gradual enlarging step by step do not make their work correctly; the other functions of the back buttons aren't involved... the diagram is ok... all as usual. The issue is at all indipendent from the recording setting (DNG,JPG etc) and the battery level. Do someone else have had this problem ? I'm hesitant to go for repair for such an issue... a bit annoying when chimping, but no more.

Shade Posted June 9, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 9, 2012 Fortunately I don't have that problem my friend, it might be something electrical or perhaps some glitches that causes it, it may need to be opened and cleaned or something?

I had this some time ago, Without the camera switched on I revolved the ring many many times in both directions with my thumb. Solved the problem. Dirt on the contacts inside. Not worth sending to Solms.

russell c. greenberg Posted December 30, 2012 Share #5 Posted December 30, 2012 Luigi, This problem happened to me twice on my (now 6 year old) M8. I had it repaired both times. 1st time under warranty, 2nd time $250.00 back in late 2009. I have not had a problem since. I think it was a problem with the contacts inside the wheel. Get it repaired, after camera is returned to you, turn dial slowly,so you don't loosen contacts. This is how I operate the dial now. Hope this helps you.
