Advertisement Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Hi tappan, Take a look here How wide?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Virginia Bill Posted June 18, 2012 Share #22 Posted June 18, 2012 Although I have the CV 15mm and use it from time to time, it seems a bit too wide for ordinary use. So I've just acquired the CV 25mm Skopar and, initially at least, find it a very happy lens for the M8. It's a bit slow (f4) and not at its best wide open. But it's rangefinder coupled, handles very easily, and will take an IR filter.
jlaw Posted June 18, 2012 Share #23 Posted June 18, 2012 I have the 28mm Cron on M8, the frame line appear simply eye pleasing.
LeicaMSeattle Posted June 20, 2012 Share #24 Posted June 20, 2012 I have the CV 15mm and use it extensively on my M8.2 for architectural and landscape shoots and will be getting the latest CV 12mm rangefinder coupled lens for even wider reach. It becomes personal preference to how wide to go. I found that my 21mm Elmarit Aspheric, while a beautiful lens just wasn't wide enough taking in the 1.33 crop factor of the M8.2. i use Cornerfix for any instance of cyan corners when it becomes a problem for some very good results. Voigtlander Leica Mount Lenses Stephen Gandy has some reccomendations for filters attachments for this lens at above link. Just scroll down to the 15mm v1. It also seems to me an enterprising leica loving machine shop owner was making filter holders for this lens, but I will leave it to someone else to verify. Have you checked Sean Reid's review of the lens on his website? He might have said something about this factor. Don't forget we have the M8 Photography thread to share images on if you get some good shots with your cv15. Richard
wstotler Posted June 25, 2012 Share #27 Posted June 25, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) How many have used the 18mm? *I have the 35 cron as my widest, but am looking wider. *Cheers Hi. I started with a CV15. Used it heavily and found it to be a great package (size + cost). Over time, I found it was "too wide" for my shooting style. CV15 Heliar LTM f/4.5 - a set on Flickr Acquired a CV21. Compact. But didn't like its rendering. (Can't put my finger on it, but something wasn't working for me.) Was a bit narrower than I wanted, too. CV21 Skopar f/4 - a set on Flickr The Leica 18mm Super Elmar was released. Got it. Love it. Not too wide, not too narrow, excellent performance. Have had a great relationship with this lens. Super Elmar-M 18mm/3.8 - a set on Flickr Cheers! Will
