IWC Doppel Posted June 5, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking for a 3 stop ND filter 46mm for use with my 35 Summilux and 28 summicron Any advise, I shoot a lot in the evening and indoors and find it annoying to stops down when I don't want to in the mid day sun. I can't find a Leica listing for ND filters, assume B&W is the way to go ?
Advertisement Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Hi IWC Doppel, Take a look here ND filters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MEB Posted June 5, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2012 I use the Heliopan in 49mm with a 49/46 step-down ring by B+W (so that I can also use it with my 75 cron which is 49mm). It works well and I recommend Heliopan as being in the same class as B+W. Mark Blumer
rramesh Posted June 5, 2012 Share #3 Posted June 5, 2012 I use a B+W ND filter with my 35 Summicron and 21 CV. I got a 46mm ND with 39-46 step up ring.
AlainLandry Posted June 5, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 5, 2012 I also use B+W ND filters with my 3 lens ( 50mm Noctilux, 35mm Summilux, 28mm Elmarit) and it is working perfectly.

kokoshawnuff Posted June 5, 2012 Share #6 Posted June 5, 2012 Any of the MUlti Coated filters like B+W (MRC) and Hoya (HMC) will be more resistant to flare. I don't have experience with Hoya, but the B+W are always fantastic (unfortunately they are getting harder find in stock): B+W 46mm 0.9 ND MRC 103M Filter 66-098747 B&H Photo Video
Double Negative Posted June 5, 2012 Share #7 Posted June 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) 46mm B+W 103 (.9/8x/3-stop) - make sure it's the MRC version. As good as it gets.
Carduelis Posted June 5, 2012 Share #8 Posted June 5, 2012 There is also a Lee RF75 Filter system which can cater for ND grads as well as your requested 3 stop ND filter which would be their 0.9 ND ProGlass product.

IkarusJohn Posted June 6, 2012 Share #11 Posted June 6, 2012 It pays to shop around. I have a mixture of B+W (Series VIII for the 21 Summilux) and Heliopan (60mm for Noct & 75 Summilux, and 46 mm for 28 Cron and 35 & 50 Summiluxes). All work well. I did have a Heliopan Series VIII for my 21 Summilux - it didn't fit into the hood, so I would avoid that filter. Cheers John
