Things for sale where the seller does´t seem to know exactly what he´s got, that is.

Here is an auction on the Swedish branch of E**y: the listing is for "an old Leica lens" in Swedish. Turns out it is a Hektor 7.3/1.9 in what seems to be very decent condition. Very high ratings for the seller, too.

Current bid is SEK 105, which is about USD 15.....;). Still 6 days to go, so I doubt it will stay at that level, however, and no ´buy now´option (if there had been one, I would´t have written this post, I assure you....:p).

So I´ll stick to my Apo 75/2.

Thanks for telling everyone. Now it won't go at a bargain price ;)

Have a look at the scratched front lens. I wouldn't buy this.

Well, from the pics, I can´t see any scratches, only some reflections.

As for the price, it´s now at SEK 3600 (around USD 500). I see at least one Leica Forum regular has registered and placed a bid since my initial post...:) Good luck!

Most bidders, however, seem to be ´locals´, so not initiated by my post, I suppose. And, if I had been interested myself, I certainly wouldn´t have posted....

And, the customary disclaimer: I do not know the seller, and I have no personal interest whatsoever in the business.

I see Edmond won :) Congrats! That's a good price for a lens that appears to be in great shape!

I did indeed!! Thank you :-)

Big thanks to Per for posting this; much appreciated :-)

Have just ordered to screw mount to M adapter from Robert White, so very much looking forward to making some nice (and almost definitely soft) portraits!!

Cheers,

Edmond

Just back from a few days´ travel. Surprised and happy with the outcome.

Congratulations, Edmond! And really looking forward to you posting some images made with that Hektor...:)

(I seem to recall reading somewhere that Hektor was named after Max Berek´s dog. I do hope this lens isn´t a dog, however!).

I was hard pressed to see any scratch like faults on the web images. You really need to foul up a lens pretty horribly before the image quality goes downhill. So I expect the images will be as sharp mas ever (in fact that is what they have to be, based on physics), they might lose a minor amount of contrast but that is dead easy to deal with in PP.

Congrats to Edmond:D

Cheers :-) From what I've read, this is quite a soft lens, so we shall see how that renders on a digital sensor. Rather looking forward to it! I'm guessing it should arrive tomorrow (also waiting for the adapter) - will keep you all posted once I've had a play :-)
