NZDavid Posted June 1, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 1, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) After 0900 GMT the forum has been running extremely slowly. Each page is taking a long time to open, up to 30 secs, though it varies. It's like old dial-up. Other sites are opening fine so it can't just be my connection. NZDavid Posted June 3, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted June 3, 2012 Now slower than ever and forum virtually unusable. Took several attempts to post this, pages taking 30 secs to over a minute to open or not opening at all -- I'm getting the message "can't open page...because server unexpectedly dropped the connection." I'll check in again later.

NZDavid Posted June 4, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted June 4, 2012 Well, extremely slow here, and the connection keeps dropping. It took some time to open this page. I have tried with both Safari and Firefox. The "dropped connection, server busy" problem does seem to be a known common problem (google to see more). I did the recommended steps, emptying cache, resetting, and restarting but no luck. I was wondering if it could be because it's Queen's Birthday holiday and lots of people are online. NZ has only one international data cable, the Southern Cross cable. See: NZ broadband getting faster, but overseas links still miserable | The National Business Review "Miserable international connection...And once again, the [Commerce] commission reported miserable speed for international content. Without caching (storing some frequently-accessed files locally to speed access) average international web browsing speed to the commission’s test site was around 0.5Mbit/s.With caching, international web browsing speed was around 2Mbit/s." However, other sites seem to be fine, so dunno. I'll log in again tomorrow.
Guest Posted June 4, 2012 Share #10 Posted June 4, 2012 After some thunderstorms over the south of Germany on May 31st my internet connection was very slow on June 1st in the early morning and failed later on completely. With some technical support by the Telecom it started again during the late afternoon and was at full connect ability in the evening again. May be that international connections have been interrupted too?
NZDavid Posted June 5, 2012 Author Share #11 Posted June 5, 2012 Whizzing along nicely today. I found other international sites were dragging yesterday so it must have been the holiday weekend and slow internet connection. Makes you appreciate how much you rely on it now. I'll look forward to catching up.
