but "no pictures can be found"

I normally download my pics into Lightroom by connecting the USB cable to my computer - but recently all I get is an acknowledgement that it recognises that the camera is connected but "no pictures can be found".

I then take the card out of the camera and get Lightroom to have a look at that - works perfectly.

Is there any explanation for this?

Clive,

the near ubiquitous USB interface, in spite of all that it does well, isn't without semi-random peculiarities or odd misbehaviours now and again. Further! even if it was that rare gem of perfect tech, it would still rely on that gem of imperfection the 'Personal Computer' for us to interact with it and thus would still be perceived as peculiar or misbehaving occassionally, anyways! :-D

Sincerely

Richard in Michigan

Although I have no explanation - the USB cable is working properly again! not in the same port - all very mysterious.

Eloquently put Richard - Though I'm quite sure it makes no real difference I have deluded myself into thinking that a few nice encouraging words to my PC can produce very kind responses.

Mostly I'm telling my MacPro: "I love ya! You big aluminum behemoth."

Had the same problem

Normally used a cable to connect camera to PC so put the card straight into the reader fitted on the computer.

Wiorked fine.

Contacts or wire problem - wire now in bin.

Good luck.

On Friday I scheduled a performance review for the USB cable, first thing Monday morning - just to give it time to think about things over the weekend!! I did suggest that it consider it's position very carefully and the implications of being a fine piece of German technology that could be replaced by a $5 Chinese rip-off. Out of kindness I let it sit next to the Fuji usb rather than my wife's Panasonic, as I realised Leica and pany have fallen out. Of course there is the distinct chance it gets grumpy with the Fuji.
