kevinpray Posted July 19, 2006 Share #1 Â Posted July 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently purchased a used 35m Summicron-R - perfect shape, except the red dot is missing. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? Â Thanks in advance!

mgcd Posted July 19, 2006 Share #2 Â Posted July 19, 2006 I'm not sure if you can actually get it your self or if you need to send it in to the service dept.. Most likely the latter.

nikau Posted July 19, 2006 Share #4 Â Posted July 19, 2006 I had a similar problem some years ago and Leica posted me not one, but four, red dots free of charge! Maybe they thought I'd lose them from other lenses in the future - which is exactly what has happened. I now have only one left!
adan Posted July 19, 2006 Share #5  Posted July 19, 2006 1. You can get them from various Leica sources - the sales rep for your district, the parts department of the national Leica subsidiary (e.g. Leica USA). My sales rep brings a baggie with spares to every Leica Day.  2. You can also make your own (a tip I got from the old forum). Go to a map store and buy a box of map pins. These have spherical colored plastic heads the same radius as the Leica lens dots (within .5mm), and red is a basic color available. Cut the red spherical head in half with a hobby knife, and super-glue one of the halves onto the lens.  I just did this last week with my 1960's Leica Tele-Elmar lens (which has a miniscule dot) and my Voigtlander 15mm (which never had one). Made both lenses much easier to mount by feel.  Offical LEICA dot on right, map pin dot on left Welcome, dear visitor! Simon Larbalestier Posted July 19, 2006 Share #6 Â Posted July 19, 2006 Try Don at DAG http://www.dagcamera.com/index.html i recently got one for the early 50 lux. Don's prices are very reasonable and fast cheap shipping. Â Simon
erl Posted July 19, 2006 Share #7 Â Posted July 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you are unlucky enough to have to depend on Australian importer 'Adeal' for Leica, you will pay (at last attempt!) $10 per dot. Â If they are wondering why I now buy ALL my camera gear offshore they will never be wise. Â For the premium price we pay for Leica's, the occassional red dot should be complimentary, IMHO. Â Cheers, Erl
