rramesh Posted May 18, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted May 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere. Â With the impending launch of the M10 during Photokina as some who allude to, would there be a possibility for Leica to offer an M upgrade from M9 to M-Monochrome? Â This could be interesting for existing M9 users to upgrade to a new M10 while at the same time converting their existing M9 to a M-Monochrome. A used M9 with an upgrade kit could prove cheaper than a new M-Monochrome and may even be an incentive to sell more M10s to the existing M9 installed base. StephenPatterson Posted May 18, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted May 18, 2012 I think there is a strong possibility that this could happen in the future, as more than likely the differences between the M Monochrom and M9-P are just the sensor and firmware. Â I would not expect this to be an inexpensive upgrade ($3500-$4500 USD), and I would not expect to see it offered for a year or two, but there are tens of thousands of M9s and M9-Ps out there, and I'm sure Leica can see the profit potential in such a move. IWC Doppel Posted May 18, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted May 18, 2012 I agree this could be an interesting option, but suspect the reality is the best solution then will be to buy an upgraded or used due to the cost. I love the idea though......
