Messsucherkamera Posted May 19, 2012 Share #3 Posted May 19, 2012 The techno-junkies who are hooked on digital and ridicule silver based image making are close- minded technology elitists who just don't get it. They don't know what they are missing. I have a friend who is a techno-junkie. He is always trying to convert me to digital. In his view, digital is superior to silver based imaging in every way. He doesn't understand my love for Leica M cameras, either. He seems to think a 50/1.4. Nikkor lens is "just as good as" Leica 's 50 Summilux ASPH. I will give him this, though: 99.9999% of the general public could not tell the difference between two prints made with these two lenses. Sadly, probably 98% or more of photographers couldn't tell the difference, either. In my experience, the masses are pretty much blind to the nuances of the fingerprint of different films and lenses, and the subtleties of a finely crafted print, be it silver based or pixel based. This state of affairs is unfortunate but it's their loss which is brought on by visual illiteracy and your basic garden variety laziness.
