Robert Seeney Posted May 13, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted May 13, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have read with some interest the raging debate. I appreciate the technical arguments and the issues around the mtf curves and differences only being seen in large print. I also think I understand the Bayer limitations and the effect on ISO and the number of photons. My question however is far more fundamental: Â Which bag should I choose to store these items in? Â (a bottle of valpolicella i am afraid has loosened my trigger fingers and I hope gives a sense of light relief from the debate!)
Advertisement Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Hi Robert Seeney, Take a look here M9m and the apo 50. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tomlianza Posted May 14, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted May 14, 2012 Italian wine always calms the soul. The thought of a 7000+ summicron makes me ill. I have a numer of the older summicrons and I really don't see what a new 50mm f2 will bring to the table. Â On the subject of the bag, I would recommend looking at some of the funky crumpler bags.... lars_bergquist Posted May 14, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted May 14, 2012 No! Considering the price of the camera, the only adequate carry is a black Billingham. I would suggest a Small Hadley. Â The old man from the saddler's shop

LeicaBraz Posted May 15, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted May 15, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wrong approach: such a camera and lens should always be worn outside the bag as otherwise no bragging possible.
Jeff S Posted May 15, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted May 15, 2012 One of course needs a Monochrom bag for a Monochrom camera. The 'Mono 7' would suffice. Â Jeff
rramesh Posted May 15, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted May 15, 2012 A carry bag from WestLicht Photographica Auction would be interesting.
tobey bilek Posted May 15, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted May 15, 2012 One of those plastic jobs you drag food home with. Add some padding. Â No point in letting the world think something expensive inside.

Add some padding. No point in letting the world think something expensive inside. Just be sure to double or triple bag to prevent a disasterous ripping out of the handles or bag itself. Gravity is decidedly not a photographer's friend... lumen Posted May 15, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted May 15, 2012 maybe this? bit of a markup over the shop price- but imagine the flexibility as a bag system!
Robert Seeney Posted May 15, 2012 Author Share #13 Â Posted May 15, 2012 A wealth of positive replies. I sense that those who are suggesting plastic bags are not treating this thread seriously. I would go for the Hermes bag but then I have the problem of selling the old tech camera and lens and eBay is just such a chore.
M9reno Posted May 15, 2012 Share #14  Posted May 15, 2012 Seriously...  APO Summicron ASPH storage in 3 easy steps:  1) Take a Steiff Leica Teddy Bear; cost is approx. Euro 1,560 (See e.g. Westlicht Lot 243: WestLicht Photographica Auction)  2) Take sharp instrument (preferably Leica ABCOO blade, at least collector-grade) and make deep incision in Leica bear.  3) Place Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH into incision.  There is no better padding than the genuine German craftsmanship of Steiff, nor one so deserving of storing Leica's latest Meisterstück. And, as an added advantage, you will be able to snuggle up in bed with your new APO-Summicron. Enjoy!

Enjoy!  Good idea ... pity the Leica Teddy Bear was a "limited edition"... not enough in the market to host the THOUSANDS of Cron 50AA they will sell.. . But if your idea catches on, maybe they could plan a re-listing of the Teddy as a standard item... and sorry for the collectors who bought them speculating on its rarity...(*)  (*) it wasn't me that won the Westlicht bid...
