Advertisement Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Hi picipicidae, Take a look here Adapter for 12 466 hood / 35mm Summilux (2011). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
brill64 Posted May 8, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted May 8, 2012 Leica lens hood 12 466 clips on the 1994-2010 35mm Summilux-M ASPH edition & i think also the current 28 summicron asph.. the new fle 11663 35 hood is a screw-on so it's quite a miss-match. i'm guessing you want to use the scalloped, round vented 12 466 on your 35 fle 11 663 asph.? if so, i understand your frustration! there's no easy solution but it's not impossible to imagine trying to engineer a male 46mm threaded adaptor with a female clip-on front section yourself. perhaps you could pm marknorton here on the forum? he's very knowledgeable about such technical matters & may be able to point you in the right direction. someone else you want to try searching is john millich who specialises in engineering very good adaptors.. wattsy Posted May 8, 2012 Share #4  Posted May 8, 2012 The most elegant solution would be to have the front thread cover (the optional part that comes with the FLE that screws over the end thread and enables you to use the E46 cap rather than the screw on hood) machined to resemble the front of the non-FLE 35 Summilux ASPH. However, I don't think there is enough metal to play with - the front of the non-FLE 35 Summilux ASPH (and 28 Summicron) seems just a little too narrow to my eyes. Rather than add an adaptor to the E46 filter thread – which IMO will push the 12 466 hood too far forward and also precludes the use of filters – you might consider having a good machinist bastardise the 12 466 hood such that it is threaded like the proper FLE hood.  Alternatively, you might forget what is presumably a vanity driven idea and console yourself with the thought that the threaded hood that is designed for the FLE is almost certainly the better hood.
