Washington Posted May 6, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 6, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I set up at altitude last night to photograph the moon as it just rose over the mountains. The sky was very overcast so there was no picture to be had….. so I went home. However, about midnight there was a break in the clouds and I rushed out to get it as more clouds were coming. 560mm Lietz Telyt, Viso III aboard the M-9. Advertisement Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Hi Washington, Take a look here I didn’t get the picture I wanted. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicamann Posted May 6, 2012 Share #2 Posted May 6, 2012 Ok a few things, the colour is out of whack, thats because the "glow" is like shooting a light bulb, all digitals including the M9 will exaggerate the saturation when in contact with an intense light source. 2) The M9 has many beautiful features including "silent shutter" that coupled with a way of bracing the lens so there is absolutely no vibration communicated along the lens, this is absolutely critical with long focal shots 3) you need to bracket you exposures and try experimenting with the focusing There should be no reason why with what you have not to get a crisp shot!! Good luck Cheers, JRM
Washington Posted May 6, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted May 6, 2012 Leicamann, Thank you for the info…. but remember that is the way you would take the picture. Some pictures I wish to look like paintings when (or if) I print them on canvas. Thus, I want less sharpness …. there’s other pictures taken at the same time that are very sharp. But that’s not what I wanted for this. More Moon:
pauledell Posted May 7, 2012 Share #4 Posted May 7, 2012 The color version reminds me of a scene from Star Wars and I like it a lot because it stirs my imagination. The second is an impressive record shot. Paul
Washington Posted May 7, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted May 7, 2012 Thanks Paul. I do many photos that remind me of paintings. Up in the Stanley Hotel is a large ‘’painting’’ I did with much artistic license as all of the surrounding buildings were removed. This explanation hangs in a small frame next to the photo:
Alexander Charles Posted May 8, 2012 Share #6 Posted May 8, 2012 I think the colours and painting-like quality are fantastic and provide a very surreal mood. Great shot!
