I just purchase this macro adapter and can't get it to fit onto the Leica R 2.8/60 mm Macro lens:(. The adapter is in good condition and is not bent or damage. Is there a trick or something to attach this? I didn't want to force it and it didn't come with any instructions. Please help! Thanks

Gunter Osterloh's book says that the adapter can only be attached when the aperture of the lens is set to f/22, the setting highlighted by an additional green dot on the macro lens. Have you checked the aperture setting?

Depends on which lens and which macro adapter. This is correct for the 14198 unless the lens has ROM contacts. I don't know if ROM contacts were ever fitted to this lens, but if so use either the 14256 or 14299 Macro-Adapter-R or have the lens-end flange of the 14198 milled to accept a ROM lens.

Agreed Doug. I'd assumed that the OP was talking about the earlier type of adapter 14198 specifically dedicated to the 3 cam 60/2.8 (based on the title of this thread) rather than the later Macro Adapter R. But I agree that there would still be a problem with the earlier adapter and a ROM variant of the lens.

Thanks for all the replies. Setting the lens to f22 did the trick:D. Now to learn how to best use it and for what situations. Any additional comments??? I planning to attach the lens and adapter on my Digulux 3. Thanks again for everyones helpful comments.

If you have a lens with the "ROM" contacts they get in the way with earlier adapters. I had the same problem.

I have the this adapter and remember, you are now 1:1..that means a extremely shallow DOF, its for things like ants, mosquitoes or even smaller.. you will need a tripod, ANY movement will cause a shift in focus..

Cheers, JRM
