Coach Rosie Posted April 29, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, guys. Just picked up an M6 Classic and tried it out for the first time with brand new batteries. Unfortunately, it looks as though the meter is not functioning properly. More specifically, the meter readings do not change at all no matter where the ISO dial is set - almost like the dial is stuck on an extremely high ISO. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there anything I can try before sending it off to be serviced? And, if I do send it off to be serviced, does anyone have any recommendations? Leica USA? Individual service guys? Thanks. earleygallery Posted April 29, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2012 Just a few thoughts. Have you read and followed the instructions? (can be downloaded from the Leica website) ? Have you tried cleaning the contacts between the rear flap and body? Have you checked those 'new' batteries? If all else fails can you return the camera for refund or repair ? madNbad Posted April 29, 2012 Share #3 Posted April 29, 2012 What were your replacement batteries? Be sure you're getting the right voltage.
Coach Rosie Posted April 29, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted April 29, 2012 The batteries are Duracell model D357, which is what is shown in the manual. They seem to be fine, as the lights work fine inside. It's just like the camera is assuming I am using high speed film no matter where I set the ISO. I will try to clean the connectors between the flap and the body. What do you guys believe would work best?
madNbad Posted April 29, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 29, 2012 Try cleaning the contacts and also rotate the ISO dial several times to try and clear any oxidation. If that dosen't work then it's off for a CLA. Good luck. MAD
