Love the colour scheme, the image, in terms of a "flower shot" is a bit busy..however with proper positioning, even with the 50mm you might be able to single one out

or get a 135mm lens :)

John, the challenge was to have some sense of the tree without crowding the frame and your point is well taken, I need to work on it (getting a new lens sounds like a good idea :D). Here is one more where the flower is a bit more isolated.

OK got it..well some trees are more photogenic than others, the proverbial " cherry tree" is actually very difficult to photograph, its hard to give the photo the sense of scale , majesty and grandeur.

 

Anyhow, I like how the red/ orange " vibrates" in the field of blue.
