steve_l Posted March 4, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Any indication that the button shortcuts for ISO,WB, and/or exp. comp that Sean suggested made it into the firmware? Â (these used the wheel/buttons that are normally unused and this would eliminate having to go to the menus while actively shooting) Â The three-button press for ISO is killing me! Especially when I'm in a hurry and forget to press the last "confirm" press.....and for exposure comp I now just aim the M8 all over till I get the speed I want and then lock it in with the shutter rather than going to the menu for it and then having to go to the menu again to set it back.... Â This would be so easy with dedicated buttons, and they are already there, just not programmed to do anything at all...... Â And if Leica is worried that the buttons would be too easy to press accidentally, they could use the "Protect" button to activate/deactivate the function (nobody has ever used this for its intended function of protecting images), that would "protect" you from unintentional use. steve_l Posted March 4, 2007 Author Share #2 Â Posted March 4, 2007 And to be really cool, the viewfinder display could be used to show what is being selected - ISO numbers, codes for WB, whatever, so you could do it without even taking the camera away from you eye and know what is happening. Â I'd personally like to see up/down buttons for ISO, right/left buttons for exp. comp, and wheel turn for WB....
Guest guy_mancuso Posted March 4, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 4, 2007 It's possible that will be in a future version of firmware. It has been discussed here and sent to Leica

steve_l Posted March 4, 2007 Author Share #5 Â Posted March 4, 2007 OK, thanks, I guess I'm mostly just posting here again so that they don't think, when they have released 1.10, that they can sit back and relax....I spent a long time in software, and that often happens when a release goes out.... Rona!d Posted March 4, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted March 4, 2007 Something must be left for the M9 and M10 or M8 "a la carte", Leica cannot deliver such improovements for free
Guest guy_mancuso Posted March 4, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted March 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) It will cost you a extra 300 , here is my paypal account. LOL Â Seriously though I don't Leica is going to sitting on there hands even after the next release. I am sure they will keep working on improvements
harmsr Posted March 4, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted March 4, 2007 I would REALLY like to see those improvements myself. Â I also have the same problem of forgetting the last hit of the set button to confirm. My tendency is to access the item, select it, and then go for the shutter while forgetting the last press of set to confirm. Leica - Please let the shutter button half press act as a confirm for the menu selection. Â Ray
