Hi All,

My friends will be going to Frankfurt soon and I am planning to buy Leica camera (either D-Lux 5 or V-Lux 30).

Please recommend good (in term of price and service) camera shops in Frankfurt. please include their address and contact number too or website.

Thank you very much.

You might try Foto Brell:

"Frankfurt Kaiserstrasse 50 with many more second-hand offers and also accessories like filters tripods adapters and so on. Photographer Mike Schraft will take care of your wishes there. Just a 15 minute underground ride from the airport and a 1 minute walk from main station!" (their own description and directions).

I don't know if they do new, but they are well-stocked on vintage and have a presence on eBay (from which the above). I have bought from them before on-line. Very courteous and professional, if decidedly pricy. I would be curious to know what their real store is like.

Good luck.

Even better to do a Factory Tour at Solms, which is not far from Frankfurt :) You need to pre-book.

That's what I did in december. Rented a car with gps, and was in Solms, at the CS, in less than an hour. I had lenses to be adjusted, and they kept my M9 as well, but provided me with a free M9 that I returned when my gear arrived in Barcelona only one (!!!) week later. I had fixed an appointment with them by phone 2-3 weeks before.

Great idea! This way you get a two-for-one. Axel Hartmann is the friendliest, most helpful Leica specialist on the planet. You can call him in advance (06442 - 208712) to find out whether he's got what you are looking for.

Cheers, Chris

+1.

It's even worth visiting without the tour. We bought a D-Lux 5 while there and they arranged for my M9's rangefinder to be adjusted and the '9' repainted, overnight. Great visit.
