rck281 Posted April 12, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) First Post: I am considering the start of collecting Leica M3 cameras and accessories. My father owned a complete set but, unfortunately, it is gone. As a start, I am interested in reacquiring an outfit identical to what he used to have. My collecting interest will be an M3 and accessories from about 1957 to the mid 1960's. Can anyone suggest a book that would provide illustrations and part numbers of the accessories that were available at that time. I currently don't have any interest in other cameras or time period. Thank you for helping a soon to be novice Leica collector.

barrybed Posted April 13, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 13, 2012 Jim Lager and his 'Illustrated History" and Paul-Henri van Hasbroeck have most thorough books on what you are seeking. But they are in demand and not cheap. Best of luck to you...Robbie http://robbiebedell.photoshelter.com
lars_bergquist Posted April 13, 2012 Share #3 Posted April 13, 2012 The 'Bible' is Dennis Laney, Leica Collector's Guide, 2nd edition, Hove Collector's Books 2005. Everything up to the publishing date is there. Laney is nearly as accurate and trustworthy as Lager, and much more than van Hasbroeck, whose books should be read with caution.
