If you buy a new Plustek scanner and you want to use it with Mac, go straight to the last release of Silverfast 8: download it from Silverfast site. The download if free of charge. If you mess up with the set up as I did, the solution is to uninstall Silverfast and install again the last release. To uninstall Silverfast, check carefully into the Forum on Silverfast website. If you just erase SF from Application, you do not solve the problem. Bottom line: the scanner is very very good and now works great also with my Mac. gbealnz Posted April 15, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 15, 2012 Hi Franco, I'm trying what you suggest, but the problem I face is that the software will not load on OSX10.7. Software is V6.6 which isn't Lion compatible. I have downloaded V8, and it indeed works, but the version is the trial version only, so has the watermarks. SilverFast don't live up to their name, well not the "fast" bit anyway, I've e mailed them and also tried posting on the forums to no avail. Fgcm Posted April 15, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted April 15, 2012 Hi Gary, My problem was that i installed 6.6, than upgraded to os lion, than upgraded to SF 8 If you already have OS10, you should Apply for the free upgrade. Go to download, upgrade, than click The box on The top right. You will read The following "If your SilverFast version 6.5 / 6.6 came bundled with your scanner purchased between June 1st, 2011 and June 30th, 2012, please submit your scanner purchase invoice. If your purchase was made prior to June 1st, 2011, you are eligible for a discounted upgrade, if you own a SilverFast copy of version 5.5 or later." It will not recognize the serial number I supply. I can't load V6.6 as it isn't ion compatible.
