robertwright Posted March 3, 2007 Share #27 Posted March 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I run this I get to the DNG converter screen and it asks again for the source folder and the destination folder. What should I do here? -given either 1. I want the images in a folder in my Pictures directory (as referenced originals) or 2. I want the images imported to the Aperture Library Not sure how to proceed. thanks-
ibogost Posted March 3, 2007 Author Share #28 Posted March 3, 2007 Robert -- hmm, that's strange. You shouldn't see the DNG converter screen at all. The import program is using the command-line version of DNG converter. I wonder, what versions of DNG converter and OS X are you running?
robertwright Posted March 3, 2007 Share #29 Posted March 3, 2007 version 2.4 I see the DNG screen with my last conversion choices, and the script hangs on get folder contents, I see that on the menu bar. I have to force quit it.

ibogost Posted March 3, 2007 Author Share #34 Posted March 3, 2007 version 2.4I see the DNG screen with my last conversion choices, and the script hangs on get folder contents, I see that on the menu bar. I have to force quit it. Ok, I'm running v. 3.7 of Adobe DNG Converter. You might try updating yours if you need to and see if that works.
ibogost Posted March 3, 2007 Author Share #35 Posted March 3, 2007 BTW, you can take out one step by going into Aperture and changing its preferences to open the Import program instead of Aperture when a camera is connected. The setting is in Preferences, at the top. I should have thought of this earlier, because until now, when I insert my SD card Aperture opens and tries to persuade me to import DNGs it can't yet understand, and I have to cancel and then run the real importer. Coach Posted March 4, 2007 Share #36 Posted March 4, 2007 Thank's Ian for doing this simple tool, it works fine and makes the importing job easiest. For me Aperture is by far Complete et user friendly than Capture One LE bundled with the camera. Gerard
robertwright Posted March 5, 2007 Share #37 Posted March 5, 2007 After upgrading to the 3.7 dng converter all is well. However, if I use the automator workflow, (not the application) and select "import by reference", I end up with referenced files in Aperture, located in the tmp directory. Does anyone else have this problem?
holgerf Posted March 5, 2007 Share #38 Posted March 5, 2007 After upgrading to the 3.7 dng converter all is well. However, if I use the automator workflow, (not the application) and select "import by reference", I end up with referenced files in Aperture, located in the tmp directory. Does anyone else have this problem? My suggestion is a wrong choice you made in the import layer. You propably choose like in the first pricture. Try it again with setting like picture 2. robertwright Posted March 5, 2007 Share #39 Posted March 5, 2007 thanks for the response- I don't get the aperture import dialogue. Maybe there is a confusion. I was running the automator workflow, not the application. however in both the workflow and the app I don't see this, it just goes straight in. I will detail what is happening a little later, I have to go and shoot. Thanks again for the pictoral response! I am sure I am just missing something obvious.... holgerf Posted March 6, 2007 Share #40 Posted March 6, 2007 thanks for the response- I don't get the aperture import dialogue. …… I am sure I am just missing something obvious.... Robert, you get the import dialoge if you just import any image WITHOUT the automater. Then adjust it as I wrote in my last post. Next time - using the automator - Aperture will remeber this setting and procedure in the expected way. Just try it - good luck again Holger
